Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions patients ask us most. Don't see yours? Call us at (832) 905-1882.

Do I need a referral to see a cardiologist at Alliance Heart & Vascular?

In most cases, no — you can call us directly to schedule an appointment. However, some insurance plans require a referral from your primary care physician before seeing a specialist, so we recommend checking with your insurance plan. If you have a referral, bring the paperwork to your visit.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Call our office at (832) 905-1882. Our team will help you choose a time at either our Pearland or Downtown Houston office. New patients are welcome at both locations.

When should I see a cardiologist for chest pain?

If you are having sudden, severe, or crushing chest pain, pain spreading to your arm, jaw, or back, or chest pain with shortness of breath, sweating, or nausea, call 911 immediately — do not wait for an appointment.

For chest discomfort that comes and goes, happens with exertion, or has been present for a while, schedule an appointment promptly so a cardiologist can find the cause.

What happens at a first cardiology visit?

Your cardiologist will review your medical history, symptoms, and medications, perform a focused cardiovascular exam, and order any needed testing — many tests can be performed in our office. You will leave with a clear explanation of findings and next steps, and we share a written plan with your referring physician.

What is the difference between a general cardiologist and an interventional cardiologist?

A general cardiologist diagnoses and manages heart conditions with testing, medication, and prevention. An interventional cardiologist additionally performs catheter-based procedures — such as angioplasty and stenting — to treat blockages from inside the blood vessels, without open surgery.

Alliance Heart & Vascular has both on one team, so your care transitions seamlessly if you ever need a procedure.

What heart tests can be done in your office?

We offer on-site diagnostics including electrocardiograms (EKG), echocardiography (heart ultrasound), stress testing, ambulatory heart rhythm monitors, and vascular ultrasound. Having testing in the office means faster answers and fewer trips. See our full list of services.

What insurance plans do you accept?

Our list of accepted insurance plans is being finalized and will be published on this website. Please call our office at (832) 905-1882 to verify that we accept your plan.

Where are your offices located?

We have two offices: one in Pearland, TX and one in Downtown Houston, TX. Exact addresses, office hours, and parking details will be published soon. Our physicians see patients at both locations — see location details.
